Trek Bikes
Trek is a major bicycle and cycling manufacturer. Trek bikes are manufactured and distributed by Trek, as are such brands as Gary Fisher, Klein, and Bontrager. Trek makes a wide variety of bikes, but the best known are high end bikes famous for their sophisticated, lightweight frames.
Trek is an American corporation based in Waterloo, Wisconsin. Some of the high-end assembly still takes place there, though the majority of the company’s bikes are now manufactured in China and Taiwan. Trek bikes appear in over 1,500 dealers across the United States as well as in Europe, Asia, and other parts of the world. In total, Trek bikes can be purchased in over 90 countries worldwide.The name “Trek” used in the company’s title is said to derive from the Afrikaans word for “journey.” Recently, Trek has made an effort to produce and market eco-friendly bikes that are made entirely out of steel. This is because steel is relatively easy to maintain and to recycle.
