What kind of considerations do I need to make as I determine which bike rack is best for me?

There are many models of bike racks available, and several important considerations to make before you invest in one particular model. First of all, how many bikes do you need to carry or hold? If you are looking into bike racks for somewhere like a playground, you will probably want to invest in a large one, or perhaps multiple racks, in order to ensure that as many children can use it as possible.

If you are looking into bike racks for personal use, will you need to carry just your own bike, or one for you and some family members? Standard models are usually designed to carry anywhere from one to four bicycles. However, specialized racks can in some cases carry more than this. Another option is to equip your vehicle with multiple bike racks, which will be possible in some cases.

What can I do to keep my bicycle in top shape?

Thankfully, there are many simple steps you can take to ensure that your bike stays in excellent shape, and you don’t need to be a mechanic to complete any of them.

One of the biggest causes of bicycle damages traces back to incorrect tire pressure. With too much or too little pressure, the wheels won’t work to their optimum capability. While you are examining your tires, check for splits or cuts as well.

Additionally, keep your bicycle away from water and extreme temperature changes. This doesn’t mean you can’t ride in the rain, but be sure that you store your basically in a secure and dry environment. If you do discover some rust, try to eliminate it immediately by using sandpaper or WD-40. Finally, while it seems simple, remember to simply avoid loose pieces of glass or debris while riding. Take good care of your bicycle and it will repay the favor.

What is a tandem bicycle?

The tandem bicycle, also referred to as the bicycle built for two, features two seats—one behind the other—two cranks for pedaling, and two sets of handlebars for control. This model of bicycle allows you to go riding with another person on the same bicycle. Generally, only the front handlebars influence steering while the back ones are used only for stability. Traditionally these have been used more for novelty purposes or for casual riding, but recently the tandem bicycle has actually been updated for use in races.
